EES for Schools wanted to update the design of their mobile library, which visited a number of Essex primary schools daily. The brief was to create a colourful design which used the main character from their chosen book, ‘Oi Frog!’. It had to be based around reading, and needed to appeal to children ranging between 5 and 10 years old. The bus had a white base layer, to which the final design had to be applied using stickers.
I worked with the frog character to integrate him in to various positions around illustrations of books, positioning him into all the free space we had without it becoming too cluttered. I kept the palette bright but limited to a basic colour palette to continue the EES branding and to ensure the final outcome didn’t look too chaotic. The new updated bus had an enthusiastic response from both pupils and staff.
